.:: Q & A ::.
What is this Certificate Program?
The Leadership and Biblical Training Certificate Program helps to prepare emerging leaders for ministry in churches and missions organizations.
What is this Certificate Program about?
The Certificate in Trasformational Leadership consists of eight specifically targeted courses that zero in on the task of leadership of churches and ministries. The hallmarks of this program are the links between classroom learning, peer interaction among the cohort group, and practical application in the supervised ministry context of the student.
Who is Bethel Seminary of the East?
Bethel Seminary of the East is fully accredited by ATS and the NYS Board of Regents. Its mission is to serve the leadership development needs of the movements of God.
Are these courses offered for credit?
These courses are taught in a church-based setting. Each course is two quarter credit hours of instruction at the Master's level of instruction. For students who have an undergraduate degree, these courses can apply to a seminary degree.
How much will it cost?
Each course will cost $325 per credit and each course is two credits. Students will need to purchase textbooks for each course. There are eight courses in the Certificate program and the program lasts two years.
Where will the classes meet?
Our plan is to have these courses right here on Long Island at CenterPoint and perhaps occasionally at other churches close by.
Tell me more about the Leadership Courses?
The four core Transformational Leadership courses will build on principles of transformational leadership, team leadership, communication and organizational leadership, and mentored leadership development. We are particularly concerned about the formative issues that develop spiritual competencies in the lives of leaders.
How will these Leadership classes work?
The Leadership courses will typically be comprised of a two-day seminar (Friday evening and Saturday) featuring one of the Leadership Professors, followed by four weeks of distance mediated learning with online discussions and peer interaction. A faculty member will interact with students online for the distance portion of the course.
What are the other four courses?
The four "Foundations Courses" will focus on biblical and theological foundations and spiritual formation. These courses will compliment the leadership courses and challenge the student to grow and stretch in their own personal formation as a Christian leader.
How will the Foundational Courses be taught?
The Foundational Courses will typically be taught as 20-hour blocks of face-to-face instruction (Five four-hour classes during a quarter). This is designed for busy people and will fit into most professional schedules.
